Ashley Herrington: The Empath in Emerald
There are models who pose, and there are models who embody. Ashley Herrington is, without question, the latter — not merely because she graces the cover of this issue in a sweeping bridal gown that seems to have been stitched from light itself, but because behind that serene gaze lies an uncommon soul: reflective, generous, deeply rooted in purpose.
Raised in the Central Valley, CA and grounded by a close-knit family with Portuguese heritage tracing back to the Azores, Ashley's upbringing wove together resilience, care, and quiet strength. “My grandparents came here when they were little,” she shares. “And my dad was born at Mitchell Air Force Base. So I come from a family with both strong traditions and a sense of duty.”

But it was her mother — a high school counselor of over thirty years — who quietly shaped Ashley’s life philosophy. “I was inspired by my mom,” she tells me. “She made such a huge difference in other people’s lives. I saw that and thought: I want to do the same.”
And she did. Ashley holds an associate’s degree in business, a bachelor’s in communicative disorders and deaf education, and a master’s in counseling. “For me, it’s always been about understanding how people think,” she explains. “Helping others reach their goals — that’s where I feel most fulfilled.”
Yet alongside academia and advocacy, there was always an artistic undercurrent — one that found its expression in fashion.
Her modeling journey began humbly, even playfully, with a campaign for Gymboree as a child. But it wasn’t until a fashion show at Delta College in Stockton that the spark turned into a calling. “They had this fashion design program, and one of the designers asked me to wear this beautiful emerald green dress,” she recalls. “I was a little nervous — but excited. I just wanted to put my best foot forward… and really sell her design.”
From that moment, Ashley began forging her own path. “Of course you don’t get the yeses right away,” she admits. “You have to prove yourself. So I started reaching out, working with photographers, posting my work, and going to meetups. For me, it was always about connection. I didn’t just want myself to succeed — I wanted us to create something great together.”
Ashley’s philosophy is simple but profound: professionalism is as much about attitude as it is ability. “A lot of people forget who helped them along the way,” she says. “But those people — the ones who believed in you early on — they’re your tribe. You keep them close.”

Currently signed with Park Talent in Sacramento, Ashley continues to balance agency representation with independent collaborations. “You need both,” she explains. “Agencies open doors. But you still have to work your butt off, even when you’re signed. You have to show up, build relationships, and really put yourself out there.”
When asked about her favorite types of work, Ashley doesn't hesitate. “Commercial shoots — I love them. But I also really enjoy the smaller, creative sessions where I can be free. I’ve been lucky. Even in commercial work, I’ve had a say in how I present myself.” She adds, “In some shoots, you’re told how to do your makeup, your hair, even your nails. But when it’s creative — that’s when I get to play.”

One of her most beloved experiences? Bridal modeling. “You’re dressed like a princess,” she beams. “Hair, makeup, everything — it’s magical.” The cover image for this very issue, shot at Elliston Vineyards, captures that spirit. “That shoot was one of my favorites,” she says. “It was such a dreamy location, and I’m still in touch with the amazing team behind it.”
But Ashley is not content with simply walking the runway — she wants to build one for others. “I’m planning a summer meetup,” she reveals. “Photographers, models, creatives. I want to give new models a space to build their portfolios, gain confidence, and feel supported.”
It’s the full-circle moment she’s quietly been working toward all along: modeling not just as a career, but as mentorship.

Her values extend to the brands she partners with. “Some shoots are scripted,” she says, “but I’ll only say things I genuinely believe. My reputation is more important than a check. I have to align with what a company stands for.”
That clarity has made her a trusted collaborator for properties like Grand Sierra Resort — and a natural choice for Sublime Avenue’s pages.
When we turn to social media, Ashley is pragmatic and poetic all at once. “Instagram is where I showcase my modeling. I love the visual storytelling it allows,” she says. “TikTok? I have one — but it’s private for now. I think I’m still figuring out what I want to share and how I want to connect.”

She’s thoughtful about emerging technologies as well. “AI is a little scary,” she confesses. “There are stories about faces being used without permission. That’s serious. But there’s also potential.
In the end, Ashley is defined by the kind of beauty that resists commodification: grounded, reflective, principled. “You have to be fully in,” she says. “When your goals are aligned with a photographer or a brand, that’s when you create magic.”

Her inspirations speak volumes: Mel Robbins’ The High 5 Habit, country music (“always”), and the fashion house Guess. “Paul Marciano’s designs are gorgeous,” she smiles. “They’re everyday elegant. I’d love to work with him one day.”

Ashley Herrington is the rare model who sees the camera not as a spotlight, but as a bridge — a way to connect, uplift, and communicate purpose. She walks into each shoot carrying not just a wardrobe, but wisdom. And in an industry that too often moves fast and forgets its past, she reminds us of something timeless: beauty is most powerful when it’s anchored in heart.
